How Invisalign it works
After a thorough examination, Dr. Bockow will determine if you are a candidate for Invisalign therapy. You will have the chance to discuss all of your concerns and treatment goals. She and her staff will obtain orthodontic records. Then she will design a treatment plan just for you. She can show you the virtual treatment plan at any point during your treatment.
Your First Invisalign Visit
Dr. Bockow and her team will give you your first set of aligners and show you how to take them in and out. You will be able to brush, floss, and eat without the trays in, but they should remain in your mouth at least 22 hours per day. You then will progress to the next set of aligners every two-three weeks.
Enjoy watching your teeth straighten! You will notice changes almost immediately in the way your teeth line up – but hardly anyone will notice that you are undergoing orthodontic therapy!
The average treatment time ranges from 12 to 24 months. Dr. Bockow has ways of speeding up treatment, ask her how during your complimentary Invisalign consult.

Veneers and Similar Treatments
Many patients have asked about the benefits of veneers as compared to Invisalign. While veneers are certainly an option for improving your smile, they only cover up certain dental imperfections, rather than correct them. This means that some existing periodontal problems could remain. Applied to the front side of the teeth only, veneers also require the removal of the surface enamel of each tooth—an irreversible procedure—and need to be replaced every five to 10 years. This can become very expensive… Coffee, tea and red wine need to be avoided to prevent discoloration, and care must be taken to prevent chipping or breaking the veneer. So while the surface look of the teeth may improve with veneers, the underlying tooth and gum problems could still exist.
